Principal's Message

Dear Lammersville Families:
Welcome to the 2009-10 school year! I
hope that everyone had a restful summer and is ready for the joys
and challenges of a new school year!
It seems like only yesterday that we were sitting out on the field
eating a delicious BBQ hosted by the Lammersville School Foundation
and prepared by our wonderful dads.
Our theme last year was Eiro. Eiro (pronounced a r ‘o) comes from the Greek term that means “to join, or connect.” Once again we will focus on making sure that in everything we do at Lammersville there are excellent “connections” taking place. “Connections” between…
instruction and learning
teachers and students
school and home
district and community
I don’t know about you but during the summer I felt very disconnected with our school community. I missed each and every one of you and I can’t wait to get re-connected. When there is a significant “connection” between two things, there is a sense of belonging, pride, and satisfaction. Students that feel connected to school feel better about attending school and learning. We all long to have meaningful connections in life; it’s what keeps us going.
So how will you practice Eiro this year? There are many ways…here are a few suggestions:
Be a part of Lammersville School Foundation
(LSF). LSF meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at
5:30 p.m. in the library.
School Site Council (SSC). This group meets once a month and it
has a key role in directing and guiding the programs at
Lammersville School.
Volunteer in your child’s classroom.
Be in constant communication with your child’s teacher.
I am so proud to be the Principal of Lammersville School!! As always, please feel free to come by and visit or call me if you have any questions or concerns.
Samy D’Amico
Lammersville School Principal
