Governing Board President

Mr. Shane Nielson
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, I moved to California in 1986. I married my wife, Denice, in 1994 and have been a resident of Mountain House since 2005. I have a BS in Paralegal Studies. I am the proud father of three children, two of whom currently attend school in the Lammersville School District. I am active in our community, participating in the community web site. I am also an avid football and hockey fan. I have proudly served on the Governing Board since 2005, including two terms as Board President.

I am third of eight children, born and raised in Hayward, CA, married to Bill King and we have 2 children, Lauren 24 and Jonathan 21. After working 8 years as a Family Practioner in Fremont, California, in 1996 we moved to Tracy and I changed my schedule to work part time (in the Dept of Gynecology for Kaiser Permanente) so that I was able to truly be a full time parent.. Both of my kids are Lammersville School District graduates, and currently in college (at Sacramento State University and University of California, Davis)

In 1997 I was honored to be appointed to the LES Board of Trustees. Since that time I have proudly watched the District grow from a small 300 student school to the current 3 schools with 1800 plus students, with continued scholastic excellence. And we are now preparing for Unification and the building of our own high school. It has been and continues to be an exciting journey and the best part has been the outstanding people who have shared it with me: my fellow trustees, the teachers and staff, parents and students, all working to make our district the best place for our kids to receive their early education.

My other activities and interests include anything with family, traveling, camping, hiking, reading, theater, and working with Boy Scout Troop 525. Although my kids are grown, I hope to stay involved with these groups who invest themselves in the education and welfare of all children.

Though not born in the Bay Area (Fort Bragg, NC) I started middle school in Union City in 1981. I consider myself a proud product of Bay Area public education: New Haven Unified School District, Union City; San Jose State University, B.A. in Psychology; UC Berkeley, M.A. & Ph.D. in Education-Cognition and Development. Married to the love of my life (Rebecca) in 2004, we are proud parents of an amazing set of twins (Grace and William). As a school psychologist for more than a decade, I have served the full range of students, preschool to high school age. I have also taught at all university levels, from bachelor to doctorate in the areas of: educational assessment, research methodology, statistics, program evaluation, organizational psychology, and consultation. I have also helped develop educational tests used nationally and internationally. I currently serve as a university director of both master's and doctoral programs in school and educational psychology, as well as a supervising school psychologist in a neighboring district. My interests and hobbies include: spending as much time with my family, taking pictures, singing, playing music, writing, and event planning.
