The start of the 2010-2011 school year brings the opening of Sebastian Questa Elementary to our District. Questa enables both Bethany and Wicklund Schools to reduce their student's population to match available classrooms.The grand opening celebration will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 6:30 P.M. at Questa School. This school year will also be a transition year for the leadership of our District. With the successful unification election in June, the District now has two functioning Governing Boards until June 30, 2011. The Elementary Board will maintain the budget, policies, and curriculum for our schools while the Unified Board will work on establishing a high school programs, curriculum, policies, and the design of Mountain House High School. On July 1, 2011, the Unified Board will take full responsibility for the District's Kindergarten through Twelfth grade facilities and programs.
The Lammersville School District will continue to take staff and public input on the curriculum and design of our high school. Using the information from the community meeting on May 5, 2010, and the responses to our survey, the educational specification committee will start matching facilities to curriculum priorities. Working with our School Board, community members, architect, and staff, it is anticipated that we could have a a preliminary design presented early in 2011.
