Welcome Back!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the Wicklund Elementary School staff, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome back to you as we begin the 2011-2012 school year.  To those students and parents who are new to WES we extend our best wishes for a stimulating and productive year in your new school. 

As this is my first year at Wicklund, I will be joining you on this exciting journey. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school through the Wicklund School Foundation (WSF) and your child’s classroom program. 

It seems that I am not the only new face on campus this year. We have several new staff members joining us from both outside of the district and within.  Please welcome:

• Laura Trux, School Psychologist
• Anthony Busuttil, PE
• Carinda Lowther, second grade
• Allison Stevens, third grade
• Dawn Edwards, fourth grade
• Sarah Lucia, fifth grade
• and Crystal Myers, fifth grade.

And we welcome back:

• Molly Lowe, first grade
• and Tammy Hurst, second grade.

At Wicklund, we strive to create a community dedicated to setting high expectations for student academic achievement, involvement, and citizenship.  We look forward to partnering with you to teach academic content standards, self-discipline and leadership skills necessary to be successful at school and in life.  If we can work together as an educational community, then we will be better able to provide a supportive learning environment where every child can best meet their potential.

In an effort to improve our communication with the school community, we have created a Wicklund Elementary School facebook page and a twitter feed. Make sure you "like" or "follow" us to receive updates. Of course, we will continue updating this website, sending home newsletters and using the automated phone system. 

Again, I am very excited about this journey we are about to embark upon.  There is much we can accomplish together and I look forward to working with you and your children.
