Dear Parents and Wicklund Community,

This year has gotten off to a great start at Wicklund, and we continue to see growth in our population, almost daily.

First off, I would like to say thank you to the students and parents of our school.  While growth is a good thing, many changes in policy and procedure have either been made or implemented.  Your flexibility and cooperation as a community has been a tremendous help in our day-to-day operations.  I am very proud to be a part of such a supportive school community.

In the area of academics, our staff continues to work hard to provide your children with an education that prepares them in the state-established standards, as well as the high Wicklund standards that have been established.  Here at Wicklund, we are proud of the academic success our students and teachers achieve, but just as important, we are proud of the good people we are helping raise.

At the primary and elementary levels, our teachers are focusing your child’s learning on the basic building blocks that form a strong educational foundation.  From here, our hope is that your children will acquire the tools to be successful in the later grades.  Please be sure to communicate with your child and their teacher to ensure that they are progressing and receiving the help they need to be successful.

In the upper grades, good part of an ideal middle school experience is establishing strong academic habits and practices that will serve your student well throughout their lives.  Now is the time to encourage your child to set and work towards high academic goals.  The further they push themselves, the more rewards they will see.  Please be sure to communicate with your middle school child and check their daily planner to see how they are doing.  This is a crucial time in their lives and they need all the support we can give them.

Again, thank you for all your help in making the start of the year a good one.  If you should have any questions, as always, my door is open.

Sincerely,

Lemuel A. Vergara

Principal
