As we begin to close the school year, and the month of May is fully upon us, we begin to look to next year. I wanted to thank all teachers, students, staff, and parents at Wicklund for another year of hard work and many achievements.
We have seen your students grow throughout the year and are working toward finishing the school year strongly. It is important to remember that while the weather begins to warm-up, it is imperative that we continue to encourage our children to maintain focus and finish the school year doing their best. Remember that attendance is very important and getting to school on time sets the tone for your student’s success.
While the next two weeks will be filled with learning, activities,
rewards, and other such events, we need to remember that our main
focus here at Wicklund is the growth of each and every individual
in our learning community. It will be easy to get distracted, as
the final month of school brings with it a lot of fun activities.
These activities are to help us celebrate the hard work our
teachers and students have put forth all year.
In regards to next school year, I know that a lot of parents are anxious about next grade level and who their children’s teacher will be. I have to re-iterate that at Wicklund, we do not take specific teacher requests for the next school year. Instead, parents are welcome to write a letter, requesting the specific characteristics that you are looking for in a teacher that you feel fits your child. I am sure that you all can understand why things must be done this way. In the end, all things will be considered from teacher input, student experience, and parent concerns. The administration will make the best decisions to create classrooms that are conducive to learning for all students.
NOTE: 2009-2010 class lists and teacher assignments will be posted by 5:00 p.m. the Friday before school starts: August 7, 2009.
Again, thank you for a wonderful year and I look forward to another great one next year.
Sincerely,
Lemuel A. Vergara
