Funding Sources

ADA (Average Daily Attendance)
Where does ADA come from? ADA is the anticipated average daily attendance from the first day of school up through the last school month that ends prior to April 15. The district is funded based on that ADA for the current year or prior year, whichever is greater.
Lottery
In the last two years, Lammersville Unified School District has received an average of $854K in funding from the California State Lottery.
The lottery’s mandate, as defined in the California State Lottery Act, is to provide supplemental funding to California public education on all levels from kindergarten through higher education plus several specialized schools. For every dollar taken in by the lottery, a minimum of 34 cents goes to public education. The remainder goes toward prizes and administration of the lottery system. The lottery was approved by voters in 1984.
In the Lammersville Unified School District, lottery funds are placed into the General Fund, which funds operations and items such as books, duplication, supplies, technology, and instructional materials.
Public schools receive the same per-pupil funding from the lottery, based on average daily attendance of students the district. According to the Lottery Act, lottery contributions can be used only for instructional purposes. Acquisition of property, the construction of facilities or the funding of research is prohibited.
Education Protection Act
The Education Protection Account (EPA) was created in November 2012 by Proposition 30, The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012, and it was implemented in 2013. The EPA is governed by Section 36 of Article XIII of the California Constitution, which was amended by Proposition 55 in November 2016.
The revenues generated from Section 36 of Article XIII of the California Constitution are deposited into a state account called the Education Protection Account. Of the funds in the account, 89 percent is provided to K-12 education and 11 percent to community colleges.
