How do I apply for a position with Lammersville Unified School District?

What is EdJoin and how much does it cost to register for their services?

EdJoin is a free public education job search web site where ALL Lammersville Unified School District jobs are posted. All job applications must be submitted through EdJoin. There is no cost to the jobseeker and anyone can register for their services at www.edjoin.org.

 

Does Lammersville Unified School District require a copy of my credential?

Lammersville Unified School District does not require a copy of your credential. LUSD will verify credentials through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

 

How long will my online application remain active?

For 1 year however you must apply for each position you would like to be considered for.

 

Is testing required before I apply for a classified position?

Testing is only required for aides if the ESSA Requirement of 48 semester units is not met.

 

Will I be able to negotiate starting salary?

Placement on the Classified salary schedule is dependent on years of experience in a similar position for employees. Placement on the Certificated salary schedule is based on credential type, years of full time contracted experience and units beyond your bachelor’s degree.

 

How do I become a teacher in California?

You can find information on the various routes to earn a teaching credential on the CTC website at www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/teach

 

How do I renew my expiring credential?

On the CTC website, you can renew your credential(s) up to one year prior to the expiration date without losing time. Your credential will be renewed from your expiration date (not the date of renewal). To view your credentials eligible for renewal, go to the CTC website at www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/online.

 

I am in the process of completing my credential program.  Does your district hire University Interns into certificated positions?

If a fully credentialed applicant is not found, University Interns will be considered for a certificated position. The Intern would need to provide proof of qualifying for an Internship Credential through their university.

 

When applying for a position through EDJOIN, please provide the following with your application:

  1. Proof of Intern eligibility.
  2. In your Letter of Interest indicate your current status in your program and if any CSET exams have been passed and/or taken.

 

I’ve been fingerprinted for another district. Why must I be printed again to work for LUSD?

Per the State of California Department of Justice, each applicant must be fingerprinted each time he/she applies with another agency.  Criminal history information is confidential and cannot be shared with any other agency unless authorized by law (Penal Code Section 11142).

 

How long will it take before I get fingerprint clearance?

The timeframe for background clearance varies depending on the response time from the State of California Department of Justice. Lammersville Unified School District is not allowed to inquire on the status of fingerprinting until 30 days after the submission date.

 

Can I request a copy of my Department of Justice Clearance?

If you are interested in obtaining your own records you can request them from the State of California Department of Justice directly.  Here is a link where you can find more information about that process: https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/record-review.

 

If I don't have a valid teaching credential, what are the minimum requirements to become a substitute teacher?

The minimum requirements for substitute teaching assignments are a bachelor’s degree and satisfaction of the basic skills requirement. There are six ways to meet the basic skills requirement:

  1. Pass the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
  2. Pass the CSET: Multiple Subjects Plus Writing Skills Examination
  3. Pass the CSU Early Assessment Program or the CSU Placement Examinations
  4. Achieve Qualifying Score on the SAT or ACT
  5. College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations
  6. Pass a Basic Skills Examination from Another State
  7. Meet the Basic Skills Requirement by Coursework

If you meet these requirements, you may apply for an Emergency 30 Day Substitute Permit.  The substitute permit is valid for one year and will allow you to substitute teach on a day-to-day basis for up to 60 days in the same classroom.

What steps do I need to take to be a High School Head Coach or Assistant Coach?

Apply for the posted position through EDJOIN. If you interview and are offered the coaching position by the Mountain House High School Athletic Director, you will be required to complete the following:

  1. Coaching Assignment Contract
  2. LUSD Code of Conduct
  3. CIF Code of Conduct
  4. Provide proof of current First Aid/CPR Certification
  5. NFHS Online Certifications: (payment of fees required) *
    1. Fundamentals of Coaching
    2. First Aid, Health, and Safety for Coaches
    3. Sudden Cardiac Arrest
    4. Concussion in Sports
    5. AACCA Spirit Safety Certification - Cheer Coaches only (payment of fee required) *
  6. Proof of a TB test completed in the past 60 days
  7. I-9 Form along with proof of identity and/or employment authorization
  8. Federal and State Tax Forms
  9. Complete Employee Internet Ethics and Acceptable Use Agreement
  10. Department of Justice clearance (payment of fee required) *
  11. Declination of Coverage for less than full-time active employees and HIPAA notification
  12. Mandatory Keenan Trainings:
    1. Mandated Reporter
    2. Blood Borne Pathogens
    3. Sexual Harassment

What steps do I need to take to become a coach at a K-8 school?

You will be required to interview with the school site principal. If you are offered the position you will be required to complete the following:

  1. Department of Justice or Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (payment of fee required) *
  2. Provide proof of current First Aid/CPR Certification
  3. Complete a Volunteer Application
  4. Proof of a TB test completed in the past 60 days
  5. NFHS Online Certifications: (payment of fee required) *
    1. Fundamentals of Coaching
    2. First Aid, Health, and Safety for Coaches
    3. Sudden Cardiac Arrest
    4. Concussion in Sports
  6. I-9 Form along with proof of identity and/or employment authorization
  7. Federal and State Tax Forms

* All required fees are the responsibility of the potential coach and will not be reimbursed by Lammersville Unified School District.

 

Does Lammersville Unified School District pay coaching stipends?

Yes, coaching positions at our High School receive a percentage based on the Certificated Salary Schedule.

 

Please go to the Lammersville School District website to review Appendix I of the 2022 - 2024 LTA Agreement. Stipends are paid at in two disbursements, once in the middle of the season and the second payment is once the season has ended.

 

Sports Team Coach positions at the K-8 schools receive a stipend of $1,000.00 at the end of the season.

 

Does Lammersville Unified School District allow assistant coaches in the K-8 School?

This is up to the discretion of the school site principal. If the K-8 Principal agrees, you will be considered a volunteer and will be required to complete the following:

  1. Volunteer Application
  2. Proof of a TB test completed in the past 60 days
  3. Department of Justice clearance (payment of fee required) *

* All required fees are the responsibility of the potential coach and will not be reimbursed by Lammersville Unified School District.

 

LUSD does not pay a stipend to K-8 Volunteer Assistant Coaches.

 

What is the rate of pay for substitutes in your district?

Substitute Teachers start at $190 per day and can earn up to $220 per day depending on location, job and number of days worked. Also, substitutes in a TPSL (Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave) assignment are paid $240 per day, as this requires a TPSL credential. Please visit the Commission on Teacher Credentialing https://www.ctc.ca.gov for more information.

 

As an employee of Lammersville Unified School District, when will I get paid?

As a permanent employee, you will be paid on the last working day of each month. As a substitute, you will be paid on the tenth of each month. If the last day of the month or the 10th fall on a weekend or holiday, you will be paid the last business day prior.

 

As an employee of Lammersville Unified School District, what benefits are offered?

Can I opt out of benefits if I am covered by my spouse’s insurance?

  1. If you are Classified or Management and work less than 36 hours in a week, yes, you may decline all coverage.
  2. If you are Classified or Management and work 36 hours or more in a week AND are covered under your spouse or domestic partner's insurance, you may enroll in WABE which requires you to enroll in dental and vision but will not require medical coverage. Enrolling in WABE also requires proof of coverage through spouse.
  3. If you are Classified or Management and work 36 hours or more in a week AND are NOT covered through your spouse’s insurance, No. You may not decline coverage.
  4. If you are Certificated and work less than a 1.0 FTE employee, yes you can decline all coverage.

What does the district contribute towards my benefits package?

The District contribution varies based on the position and prorated based on the start date and F.T.E.

 

Are benefits included in the salary posted on the position?

No, they are paid in addition to the salary stated on the posting.

 

Do you offer additional stipends for degrees?

Yes, the following are paid at this time. Please go to the Lammersville School District website to review section 14.1.2 of the 2022-2024 LTA Agreement or appendix A of the 2020 – 2023 CSEA Agreement.

Can I complete my student teaching requirements with Lammersville Unified School District (LUSD)?

Yes, however there are many steps that both LUSD and a student must complete prior to placement in a classroom. If you are interested in completing your student teaching with LUSD please contact your respective College/University.

 

How do I get started?

Students in a credential program must work with his/her university for placement. Please do not contact an LUSD school site directly.

 

Does Lammersville Unified work with all Universities?

Lammersville Unified School District has Memorandum of Understandings (M.O.U./Agreement) with several Universities. If we currently do not have an MOU with your respective University they may contact us to begin a partnership in helping to support their student teachers.

 

If I know a teacher within LUSD, can arrangements made directly with him/her to complete my student teaching requirement in his/her class?

No, LUSD will determine placement based on the requirements of the M.O.U.

Is a TB Test required for employment at LUSD?

Yes, all employee’s must supply a TB test that has been completed within the past 60 days.

 

How long is a tuberculosis (TB) test valid?

A TB test is valid for 4 years from the date results were read. If supplying a chest x-ray, it does not expire.

Do your employees belong to a union?

Certificated employees may join CTA and classified employees may join CSEA.
