Mountain House High School: Inclusive School

Mountain House High School is considered an inclusive school because special education teachers co-teach with general education teachers for subjects such as: Math, English, and Science. Students with disabilities are incorporated into the culture and community of the campus to the greatest extent possible. Additionally, the classroom setting resembles that of their non-disabled peers as much as is appropriate.  Students requiring more intensive support are assigned to a learning lab where they receive additional specialized academic instruction. All students on Individualized Education Plans (IEP) are monitored closely by a case manager to ensure student success. Students enrolled in this program are on a diploma track.

Special Day Class

Mountain House High School has one Special Day Class (SDC). In our SDC, the teacher provides instruction for most academic subjects and offers specialized academic instruction and core curriculum proceeds at a slower pace. Mainstreaming opportunities are determined and designed by the student’s IEP Team. Intended for non-severely handicapped individuals, the SDC serves students with mild to moderate disabilities with more intense learning needs. Students in this program are on a certificate of completion track.
