2025 CSBA Golden Bell Award - Wellness Center

The Wellness Center provides students with the opportunity to sit in a calming environment where staff are readily available to offer assistance and/or resources. Small group sessions are facilitated by the Restorative Practices Specialists and Student Services Counselors; topics include peer conflict, positive mental health and coping strategies, drug intervention/cessation, and self-regulation. There is a classified staff member who scans the students in; the staff member communicates with the member of the team that will best support the student’s needs. For students experiencing stress related to academics, an academic counselor is brought in, conflicts with staff or peers is the Restorative Practices Specialists, and mental health needs are referred to the Student Services Counselors or School Psychologist.

2024 CSBA Golden Bell Award - E.P.I.C. (Empower, Personalize, Innovate, Collaborate) Academy

The EPIC Academy of Mountain House High School is a successful student alternative education program provided to tenth through twelfth grade students. The mission is to unleash the potential of each student while ensuring individual success through a tailored approach to learning. The program values empowerment, innovation in learning, and strong community partnerships. The district is dedicated to preparing students for success by collaborating with local businesses to expand learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

2020 CSBA Golden Bell Award - LUSD Safety Committee

Public school safety has evolved extensively in the first twenty years of the 21st Century. The Lammersville Unified School District Board recognized that to meet this challenge, one entity needed to prioritize the district’s responsibilities into one committee whose sole purpose is to identify, organize, coordinate, study, and make recommendations related to all areas of district safety. The Safety Committee is playing a highly impactful role in support of our teachers, staff, and students by linking safety practices across our district.

2019 CSBA Golden Bell Award - LUSD Walking and Talking Instruction

The Lammersville USD Board of Trustees have set direction to provide our 5900 students with a 21^st Century educational experience. This direction is based on the belief that collaborative adult relationships work for students. During the 2014 school year, the Board approved a plan designed to systematically improve instruction across our district. Walking and Talking Instruction is a professional development practice which partner teachers and administrators as they collaboratively observe classroom instruction using a standardized rubric. Participant’s understanding is built through a calibration exercise before teams observe multiple classrooms per site. Rubric based observation data is collected and discussed amongst the entire group of educators with a focus on best instructional practices. Ideas are shared and plans made to bring the best practices for implementation back to each school site. The LUSD Board of Trustees supports innovative approaches to professional development and inspires its educators to work as partners.

2017 CSBA Golden Bell Award and NSBA Magna Award LUSD Early College Pathway Program

In 2014, our Lammersville Unified Board of Trustees approved a plan to create an Early College Pathway Program for Mountain House High School students. Partnering with San Joaquin Delta College, cohorts of students were set into a program model which allowed students the opportunity to earn an Associate degree in science and mathematics, while concurrently earning a high school diploma in the traditional four-year high school cycle. Students who complete the Early College Pathway Program will enter college two years ahead of their peers. Students in the program are learning valuable lessons about their abilities to perform in a college setting and their ability to adapt to a challenging environment. The results have made our community proud. Our pathway program students have outperformed like programs in San Joaquin County and the region. This program has driven student outcomes, is sustainable, and is based on a model that can be repeated by education leaders.

2015 CSBA Golden Bell Award - LUSD Strategic Plan

In 2013 Lammersville Unified School District addressed the onset of a rapidly evolving instruction environment by using our Strategic Plan to build systems that meet the challenges of the Common Core era. Our Board of Trustees understood the need for change and has used the implementation of the plan to transform our district culture and establish a sustainable 21st Century instructional vision. Our plan uses a three tiered approach that aligns our district’s programs practices, policies, and procedures intentionally. Each tier is being implemented simultaneously, measured for success through student data, funded over the long term, and communicated clearly to our community stakeholders. Consistently high student outcomes are rewarding our district’s commitment to aligned systems and living in a state of perpetual self-refection in our journey to successfully meet the standards established for the CCSS and inspire each of our students to become college and career ready.

Mountain House High School has been named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious award recognizes schools across the country for exemplary high performance, and we are incredibly proud to be one of only 33 schools in California and 356 schools nationwide to receive this honor. Even more notably, Mountain House High School is the largest public high school in California to be recognized as a Blue Ribbon School this year. The United States Secretary of Education formally presented this award to Mountain House High School during a special ceremony in Washington, D.C.
