Artificial Intelligence Initiative

At Lammersville Unified, artificial intelligence is already part of how our students in grades 7 through 12 learn and work. Rather than leave that use to chance, we are teaching students to use AI thoughtfully, honestly, and safely, with clear expectations, strong privacy protections, and steady guidance from their teachers. Our approach rests on four commitments: preparing students for what comes next, meeting every learner where they are, protecting the independent thinking at the heart of a strong education, and freeing teachers to spend more time working directly with your child.

The resources below explain the plan in plain language:

  • Home AI Stoplight: Shows the Red, Yellow, and Green signals used consistently in every classroom and included in every syllabus and assignment.
  • Family AI FAQ: Answers the questions parents and students told us matter most, from privacy and safety to how AI is used day-to-day.
  • Student AI Training: Describes the four teacher-led modules every LUSD student completes before using AI at school. Start wherever is most useful, and reach out to your child's teacher or school administration with any additional questions.
  • AI Parent Night Presentation: Provides an overview of AI usage and guardrails for students in grades 7-12.

Students in grades TK through 6 will not use AI tools directly. In those grades, teachers may use approved tools to help plan lessons and create materials. In all grades, AI is a tool that can support teachers, not a substitute for them. Teachers remain the ones who plan lessons, know your child, and make instructional decisions.
