BEHAVIOR/CODE OF CONDUCT

Our ELOP staff uses positive methods of discipline which encourage self control, self direction, and cooperation.  By setting reasonable limits, we help a child understand what is expected of them.  Our goal is to give the children the security of knowing we care enough to prevent them from hurting themselves or others.

All of the same rules and regulations apply in ELOP that are in effect at every LUSD school site.  Participation in ELOP is a privilege.  Any disruptive behavior that affects the program is grounds for dismissal from the program.  Please note the following expectations in regards to behavior in the ELOP program.  Violation of  these expectations will cause a student to be subject to dismissal from the program:

  • Students are expected to exercise care when using district property including, but not limited to:  computers, games, PE equipment, books, pens, pencils, school supplies, etc.
  • All LUSD Board Policies and Regulations in relation to student behavior.
  • LUSD policies in relation to student cell phone use.

Students who consistently violate program rules and require disciplinary intervention will be subject to the following consequences:

1st Offense:
A disciplinary warning will be issued. The incident will be documented in the student information system, and a warning letter will be sent home. A phone call will also be made to the parent/guardian.
2nd Offense:
The student will receive counseling, and the parent/guardian will be contacted. The student will be sent home for the remainder of the day. The incident will be documented in the student information system, and a letter will be sent home.
3rd Offense:
The student will be withdrawn from the program immediately and will be sent home.  The student will not be eligible for re-enrollment until the following school year. The incident will be documented in the student information system, and a letter will be sent home.
